Georgia Organics has served me as a Farm Member in many different ways. I've been a member of Georgia Organics since I organized my farm in 2010. I became part of a burgeoning community of farmers and growers in Georgia who implemented sustainable farming practices on their farms. I looked forward to and attended the yearly conference that honed my farming know-how and expanded the possibilities for my operation and a myriad of networking opportunities. The conference also served as a family reunion of fellow farmers and energized us for the season ahead. I then joined the Board of Georgia Organics as the first black woman board member and a farmer, bringing that background to an organization committed to Georgia's farmers and the local food community. I am honored to serve in this role and support Georgia Organics in its renewed mission and vision to strengthen the local food and farmer community.
Georgia Organics is embarking on a $150,000 goal for its 25th anniversary campaign. The campaign's theme is from the ground up, which resonates with me as a Farmer. Taking care of the soil and land is paramount to growing food, healing the earth, increasing food access, and sustaining biodiversity and farmers. A donation to this campaign will support Georgia Organics's work to support farmers and farming enterprises directly. Georgia Organics has supported me as a farm member, and I'm honored to be on the board to expand the offering to Farmers in Georgia. Please join me in helping Georgia Organics reach its 25th Anniversary goal of $150,000. No amount is too small or too large. Be as generous as possible, and let's support the Farmers of Georgia!
HELP US REACH OUR $150,000 GOAL FOR OUR 25TH ANNIVERSARY CAMPAIGN!
Georgia Organics invests in these Farmers so that the soil gets the care it needs inch by inch. We support these Farmers to grow in a way that heals the earth, increases food access across the state, and sustains biodiversity and life, from the soil itself (which is living and breathing!) to the plants, the people, and everything in between.
Our food system is dynamic, complex, critical. Every day, Georgia’s land, growers, and communities stand at the mercy of ongoing and increasing environmental pressures, social and economic gaps, and barriers to access. Deeply entrenched agricultural practices and policies make these challenges worse, further degrading the soil and access to land and food.
Meanwhile, the champions in our local food system work daily to stem this tide. They make sacrifices to prioritize soil and community health. They lead the way, showing us that it is possible to build a future in which Georgia’s food is produced accessibly, equitably, and sustainably by thriving community farmers.
Georgia’s land needs stewards like never before.
This year, as Georgia Organics celebrates our anniversary milestone, we’re reflecting on our roots. While Georgia Organics was founded as a nonprofit in 1997, our organization dates back to the 1970s as a growers’ association—a group of farmers sharing their knowledge and resources to strengthen their collective efforts. Now in our 25th year, we’re dedicated to meeting today’s emerging challenges under these same historical auspices...
To invest in our food future from the ground up. So, how do we do that?
The answer is in the soil.
Across the state of Georgia, our soil varies from region to region, even from plot to plot. That is why Georgia is one of the most biodiverse states in the country. The organic farmers throughout our state are experts in the care of this biodiversity and the land they steward.
Georgia Organics invests in these farmers so that inch by inch, the soil gets the care it needs. We support these farmers so that they can grow in a way that heals the earth, increases food access across the state, and sustains biodiversity and life, from the soil itself (which is living and breathing!), to the plants, the people, and everything in-between.
